I woke up yesterday morning to a message from a client asking me if they could use something โpowerfulโ I had said to them with their own client. Before I had a moment to receive the honor of the request, my egoic mind puffed up with blustery pride and warned me; that if I give them permission to use my words, that theyโd better credit me, promising me that it was keeping me safe from plagiarism and advising me to hold on very tightly to what was mine. Something felt horrible in my body so I just stopped to feel it. To listen to what my body knew but my mind was too narrowly focused to see.
It didnโt take long. Just enough time to take in a few breaths was all I needed to feel the warmer wiser wisdom of my sage flow into my mind.
From there, I was able to recognize that the message from the frightened little voice inside that was telling me that I needed to protect myself - was untrue. Reducing the tiny minded thoughts into what they were. Lies.
And then I responded to my clientโs text with this:
Like good food we take in the flavor of thoughts, ideas and things we experience and mix them together in different measures to make a new recipe of our own. The individual ingredients arenโt owned and the recipe is ours to create and recreate. So by all means add and share anything youโve tasted โin my kitchenโ and add it to your own unique flavor. And perhaps โserve itโ rather than โuse itโ with the people at your table and allow them the opportunity to add their own seasoningโฆ..
My client messaged right back and thanked me saying I had a way with words. I reciprocated and thanked him for inspiring them.
Iโm Lisa Hopkins. Thanks so much for listening. Stay safe and healthy everyone and remember to live in the moment.
