I woke up yesterday morning to a message from a client asking me if they could use something โ€œpowerfulโ€ I had said to them with their own client. Before I had a moment to receive the honor of the request, my egoic mind puffed up with blustery pride and warned me; that if I give them permission to use my words, that theyโ€™d better credit me, promising me that it was keeping me safe from plagiarism and advising me to hold on very tightly to what was mine. Something felt horrible in my body so I just stopped to feel it. To listen to what my body knew but my mind was too narrowly focused to see.

It didnโ€™t take long. Just enough time to take in a few breaths was all I needed to feel the warmer wiser wisdom of my sage flow into my mind.

From there, I was able to recognize that the message from the frightened little voice inside that was telling me that I needed to protect myself - was untrue. Reducing the tiny minded thoughts into what they were. Lies.

And then I responded to my clientโ€™s text with this:

Like good food we take in the flavor of thoughts, ideas and things we experience and mix them together in different measures to make a new recipe of our own. The individual ingredients arenโ€™t owned and the recipe is ours to create and recreate. So by all means add and share anything youโ€™ve tasted โ€œin my kitchenโ€ and add it to your own unique flavor. And perhaps โ€œserve itโ€ rather than โ€œuse itโ€ with the people at your table and allow them the opportunity to add their own seasoningโ€ฆ..

My client messaged right back and thanked me saying I had a way with words. I reciprocated and thanked him for inspiring them.

Iโ€™m Lisa Hopkins. Thanks so much for listening. Stay safe and healthy everyone and remember to live in the moment.
