Let us know what you enjoy about the show!

Ever thought about how your identity shapes your actions? In our latest episode, we explore the profound connection between our "who" and our "how." Remember the curiosity you had as a child, constantly asking, "How do you do that?" We dive into that lost mindset and discuss how reclaiming it can transform our lives. We'll challenge the notion of seeing our gaps in knowledge as deficiencies and instead view them as extraordinary opportunities for growth. Through my personal journey with my new book, we examine the choices that define our responses to life's adversities and how a shift in perspective can change everything.

Join us as we uncover the boundless creativity in the choices we make and how they shape our journey. We'll reflect on the absolutes of lifeβ€”birth and deathβ€”and how everything in between is determined by how we choose to live. Whether it's preparing for disappointment or choosing to be amazed, the episode emphasizes the power of perspective and the importance of living in the moment. Don't miss this inspiring conversation designed to challenge your mindset and open up a world of creative possibilities. And, of course, check out the link in the show notes for my new book that's sparking these discussions!

Speaker 1:

Hey there.

Speaker 1:

Have you ever considered that your who is in the how? Just think about it. Well, first of all, they have the same letters. So your who is definitely in the how. But think a little deeper. Who do we want to be when we are doing the thing? And how do you want to be in the world? All the choice lies in how, how you respond, how you view, how you show up in the world, how you speak into the world, how you approach things, how you take part and engage in things, how you speak to yourself.

Speaker 1:

Do you remember when we were young and we'd ask a grown-up or a friend who was maybe older than us or more experienced how do you do that? How do you do that? It was a question that we enthusiastically asked over and over again when we were kids, when we saw something that intrigued us or sparked our interest enough to ask how do you do that? And it gave us the impetus to learn. But as we got older and recognized what we did or did not know how to do, well, the more distance we put between ourselves and the thing that once might have intrigued or inspired us. So, instead of the beginner's mindset of our child self who leaned in and embraced the wonder of the unknown. When we don't know how to do something, it gets reflected back at us as a deficiency. Can you relate when you don't know how to do something? You have so many chances to learn what's your style. Do you say to yourself, oh, I can't do that and don't even try. Living in the land of haves and have-nots, I'm not talented enough, I don't have the resources, I don't know how to do that, I'll never be able to learn that. Or do you acknowledge that you don't know how to do something and feel excited by the fact that you've found something and create space to learn and grow and make mistakes along the way? Ignorance can be bliss, as can a beginner's mindset, well, like me with the process of my book.

Speaker 1:

Be prepared to be disappointed, I was told by some people. Why would I prepare for disappointment, unless I am tethered to hope or to what I think things are supposed to be or look like, how my book is supposed to be received. But maybe that's how some people go about in their lives. Maybe that's who and how they are in the world. There are an infinite number of choices of how to approach, do or look at something, someone, or yourself, for that matter. That's where creativity lies. Your how is bespoke to you, my how is who I am. They work together. Can you see that? Do you recognize that? It helps me to realize that there are only two things that are absolute in this world we are born and we die. Everything in between, though, is choice. It's choice about how you live your life, no matter your troubles or what hardships you face. How we respond in the face of adversity defines who we become and how we show up in this world. We show up in this world. So to those naysayers who said to me be prepared to be disappointed, I say be prepared to be amazed.
